Pro Soccer Keeper was established in 1996 by Fred Barber, ex-BWFC & Northern Ireland soccer goalkeeping coach. Barber made over 400 professional career appearances for UK Soccer Clubs before establishing himself as a top-flight coach.

More commonly known as Pro-SK the company was formed to provide specialist goalkeeper training to players of all ages and abilities. Our aim was to provide professional goalkeeper coaching and create greater opportunities for progression into the professional game.

Over the past twenty-five years Pro Soccer Keeper has worked with a multitude of English Premier League & English Football League clubs. Our unique goalkeeper training program has helped to launch, mentor and sustain the careers of several top-flight pro soccer keepers.

The Pro-SK goalkeeper team sheet is a list of who’s who. Our hall of fame includes Liverpool’s Adam Bogdan, Ex- Man Utd & Polish International Tomasz Kuszczak, Oman International Ali Al-Habsi, Ex- BWFC, West Ham Utd & Finland International Jussi Jaaskelainen, Bournemouth and England U21 international Aaron Ramsdale and many more.

The Kick Off - Pro Soccer Keeper

For many England 96 is defined by Brit Pop, Oasis, Three Lions & more. But beyond the fever pitch of a Nation former pro goalkeeper Fred Barber retires through injury.

 

Barber, a cult hero amongst the terraces with his Freddy Krueger mask pitch-side antics forms Pro Soccer Keeper.

 

The freelance goalkeeper coaching operation secures goalkeeper coaching positions at West Bromwich Albion & Bolton Wanderers.

Discovering Rough Diamonds

Barber recognises the need to provide specialised goalkeeper coaching to players from an early age. He devises his own coaching curriculum based on the needs of professional clubs.

 

The goalkeeper coaching curriculum is delivered to goalkeepers of all ages and abilities from grassroots clubs through to elite standard pro's. Pro-SK goalkeeper coaching clinics, keeperschools and goalkeeping camps attract diamonds in the rough.

 

The coaching events unearth aspiring young keepers such as Jussi Jaaskelainen, Tomasz Kuszczak and many others who go on to play and compete at the highest level.

Putting down Roots

Barber commits to Bolton full-time as head goalkeeping coach in 2004 working alongside former England Manager Sam Allardyce.

 

Pro-SK coaching clinics & goalkeeping camps continue to unearth exciting new talent. Goalkeepers such as Adam Bogdan, Ali Al Habsi and Brian Jensen burst onto the UK professional scene.

 

Barbers training methods start to gain recognition. His work with Jaaskelainen has turned the pro soccer keeper into a full international and one of the premier league’s most consistent performers.

Bolton, Belfast & Beyond

Barber joins the Northern Ireland coaching team having previously worked with the Jamaican and Oman national squads.

 

Fred provides coaching services to the Ulstermen for a further 5 years and stays at the Wanderers until 2013 cementing his reputation as one of the UK's leading authorities on goalkeeper coaching & player development.

Fred Joins the Crewe

Barber provides coaching services to a host of clubs including premier league sides Sunderland & Stoke City.

 

Fred joins English Football League side Crewe Alexandra as Head Goalkeeping Coach to assist the club with their goalkeeping development.

 

The Railwaymen have a strong tradition in developing players. This sits perfectly with Pro-SK's philosophy on discovering and developing emerging new talent.

Future Game

Barber restructures Pro-SK that will see the company offer a complete set of goalkeeper coaching services under one uniformed brand.

 

Pro Soccer Keeper launches a full range of activities & events. These include Keeperschools & Training Camps through to Talent ID clinics & Train Like a Pro Events.

 

All programmes are delivered by Pro Club Coaches & Pro Soccer Keepers. Many former goalkeepers who participated in the training curriculum return to the fold to teach the curriculum to the next generation.

 

The company continues to extend its footprint into exciting new territories.
